The fixed wing (also known as a 3-Axis) microlight resembles a conventional light aeroplane in both looks and control systems. Licence gained on a fixed wing microlight can be cross-credited towards the grant of an NPPL(A) licence.
Once you have obtained your NPPL(M) licence you can fly modern high performance microlights such as the Ikarus C42, CTSW and Eurostar.
Swift Instruction fixed wing training aircraft is the superb Ikarus C42
For those who want speed and comfort we are now training on the outstanding Ikarus C42.
This is a German microlight aircraft with a real go-places cruising speed of almost 100mph yet the ability to potter around in absolute safety at 45mph. An innovative, modern two-seater light aircraft sets the standards. The classic advantages of the ultralight and the standard aircraft categories are combined to produce a fascinating, technically matured machine.
The very name 'German' automatically evokes the feeling of quality and perfection. Close scrutiny of this aircraft absolutely confirms that impression. Everything about it has the stamp of a real masterpiece of engineering. But not only that, its performance entirely matches its perfect looks.
Its outward appearance is very much that of a modern light aircraft, yet it is equally at home in a rough field as it is on any smooth runway and its very short field take-off and landing performance allows you access to many places where a light aircraft with similar cruise performance wouldn't stand a chance.
With its gull-wing doors and spacious interior, it has to be just about the easiest aircraft to get in and out of. Once inside it is really comfortable and is fully equipped with leather seats, excellent heater for those cold days and full instrumentation including Mode ‘S’ transponder and moving-map GPS.
